Election ends at 8 tonight (Tuesday, May 21)

Picture
Deadline to turn in ballots for the Primary Election is 8 tonight (Tuesday, May 21). Ballots can be dropped at official ballot drop sites (click link below to find the one closest to you) or mailed and postmarked by May 21.
No Democrat filed for Position 3 on the Linn County Board of Commissioner, but the Linn County Democrats have recommended that county Democrats write in Shane Wendell for the position. Shane is a second-generation union boilermaker and currently the maintenance and environmental services director for a large memory care facility. He believes working families deserve to afford a home, food on the table and good health care. He lives in Brownsville with his wife, two sons and two rescue dogs.
On the Primary ballot are  three Democratic candidates for State Representative: Nina Brenner, a retired systems and database analyst and Scio-Lacomb-area resident, House District 11; Terrence Virnig of Millersburg, a retired mechanical and environmental engineer, House District 15; and David W. Beem of Salem, co-owner of Overhead Door Company of Salem, House District 17, which includes portions of Linn County.
David Scranage, a retired electrical engineer and longtime Linn County Democrat who lives in the Halsey area,  is seeking the Democratic nomination for Position 2 on the Linn County Board of Commissioners.
No Democrat filed for Oregon Senate District 9.
Fifty-four Linn County Democrats have filed for Precinct Committee Person.
The Democratic Primary also has the following races with two or more candidates: 5th Congressional District, Janelle Bynum and Jamie McLeod-Skinner; Oregon Secretary of State, a five-way race that includes current State Treasurer Tobias Read and State Sen. James Manning Jr.; and State Treasurer, Jeff Gudman and Elizabeth Steiner.
A listing of Democratic and non-partisan candidates who will appear on ballots in Linn County, along with two local ballot measures and key election dates and resources can be found on our May 21 Primary Election Page.
