Nominations are open for Democratic
State Platform Convention delegates, alternates

Help determine the Democratic Party's focus for the next two years. We are excited to announce that the 2021 Democratic Party of Oregon Platform Convention has been called by the DPO Execuive Committee for Dec. 10-12 at Adrienne C. Nelson High School in Happy Valley..
Linn County has been awarded 22 delegates and 11 alternates to the State Platform Convention, and nominations are officially open, Any Precinct Committee Person may nominate any resident of Linn County who has been a registered Democrat since Jan. 31, 2021. Precinct Committee Persons may self-nominate as well. The Linn County Democratic Central Committee will elect all 22 delegates and 11 alternates at our Oct. 7 Linn County Democrats monthly general meeting. Nominees must be present to be elected as a delegate or alternate. In the event we do not have a full slate after our October meeting, remaining positions will be filled at our Nov. 4 meeting.

State task force seeks
comments on universal health care

The state’s Joint Task Force on Universal Health Care is seeking public comments.
Rick Staggenborg, a Linn County Democrat who serves on the Health Care for All Oregon Membership Committee, is scheduled spoke during the Linn Dems monthly general meeting Sept. 2. He suggested a number of questions for people to consider before submitting their comments:
• What do you want to see in a publicly funded universal health care system?
• No premiums?
• No bills at point of service?
• Complete choice of primary care providers?
• Dental and vision coverage?
• Cost controls that limit profit instead of care?
• All the above?
“If you have a personal story about why this is important to you, please include it,” Staggenborg said.
The Linn County Democratic Central Committee adopted a resolution in March 2019 affirming health care as a human right and endorsing Health Care for all Oregon.
