Standing Committees

Our Standing Committees

Standing Committees are where much of our Linn County Democrats (LCDCC) work is planned, organized and implemented. There are seven permanent committees, and other committees can be formed on a temporary basis to address specific needs. We hope the description of one or more of the Committees, below, will match your interest.  Committee chairs are more than glad to hear your questions and tell you more about their committees and their work.

Campaign Committee
The purpose of this committee is to increase the number of Democratic candidates who are elected to office in Linn County, such as the Linn County Commission, city councils, school boards, fire protection districts, etc., and to the Oregon State Senate and House of Representatives.
Chair: Bobby Schueller

Communications Committee
Handles all public communications for LCDCC on news, events, as well as information on Democratic politicians, political candidates, and campaigns in Linn County. Disseminates related information from neighboring county Democratic organizations, the Democratic Party of Oregon, and Oregon’s Democratic Congressional Delegation. Communicates through email (hotlines), website, social media, and press releases to area-wide media.
Chair: Circe Verba

Events Committee
Coordinates and organizes approved fundraising and community events and the Democrats' Linn County Fair booth.
Recruits volunteers for the various events.
Chair: Keith Kolkow

Finance Committee
The committee prepares an annual budget to support the Linn County Democratic Central Committee (Linn Co Dems) activities for the budget year; and proposes and coordinates kinds of fundraising necessary to meet this budget.  The Executive Committee and Central Committee (Precinct Committee People) approve the budget and fundraising plan.
Chair: Jackie Montague

Organization Committee
The primary purpose of this committee is to recruit, train, mentor and support Precinct Committee People (PCPs).  We have set a goal of obtaining PCPs for every precinct in Linn County. We intend to provide information/training during a part of each monthly general meeting.  We will also create precinct information packets and offer special training in supportive software created by the state Democratic Party of Oregon (DPO).  An important part of the Organization Committee is the Neighborhood Leader Program, which pairs leaders with Democratic neighbors to share information and get out the vote. We work to create a community of people with progressive ideals and a willingness to work for fairness, equality and respect of others in our society.
Chair: Mark Leonard

Platform and Resolutions Committee
The Platform Committee drafted an LCDCC Platform in the summer of 2017, and the Central Committee adopted it on Sept. 7, 2017. The Platform Committee may review and suggest revisions to the platform in 2020. It will also provide leadership for the Legislative Action Committee,
Chair: Genny Lynch

Rules Committee
The Rules Committee proposes rules of procedure for the LCDCC, including reviewing and updating the by-laws, as needed.
Chair: Janet Quinn
