Creating Housing Coalition breaks ground
on Hub City Village tiny house community

​More than 100 people, including many Linn County Democrats, turned out June 10 for the groundbreaking of the Hub City Village tiny house community. Stacey Bartholomew, president of Creating Housing Coalition, said that when she first expressed her dream of a tiny house community for Albany in 2017, seven words from a friend and fellow member of First Christian Church, gave her the motivation and determination to follow through: "I'll do it if you do it," Nancy Marshall said at the time. .... Bartholomew told the crowd "I honor Nancy as my hero and inspiration." Another FCC member, Gary Goby, who serves on the CHC board and chairs its Capital Campaign and Land Development committees, also spoke during the ceremony, as did Albany Mayor Alex Johnson, who said he wants a tiny house community in every precinct. Jamie McLeod-Skinner also shared her enthusiasm for the project. Sophia Roberts, field representative for Senator Jeff Merkley, read appreciative comments for the project from the senator. Twenty-seven tiny houses and are planned for the site along Waverly Drive a few blocks north of Pacific Boulevard. "We have raised 95 percent of what we need," Bartholomew said.
