'A sad and shameful day'

Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Carla “K.C.” Hanson released the following statement addressing the Jan 6 violence at the U.S. Capitol:
"This is a sad and shameful day in our nation’s history.
"The American people spoke decisively and resoundingly in November when they voted to bring Trump’s presidency to an end. Lawmakers gathered today to certify the results of that election when their business – the people’s business – was interrupted by a violent right-wing mob.
"We condemn in the strongest terms the actions of this violent mob, and will not allow these extremists to be successful in their assault on our democracy. 
"Make no mistake: Two weeks from today, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will take their Oaths of Office. We look forward to pulling together and working alongside them to do the critical work of defending our democracy.​
