WHY I'M RUNNING:

I love Linn County — it’s untamed beauty, hardworking people and limitless potentential. But, the problems we’re facing — from the housing crisis to access to affordable health care —  are incredibly complex.

These problems should not be determined through one-sided conversations.

That’s why I’m running for Linn County Commissioner — to bring a fresh perspective and advocate for our neighbors who have been left behind. Linn County residents who have been forgotton, feel ignored and have lost hope in our bright future.

I will bring fresh perspectives to address some of our biggest challenges, including:
   • Building an economy that works for everyone
   • Promoting affordable housing
   • Planning for smart growth
   • Improving public safety
   • Repairing and building roadways,
   • Providing better public health services and
  • Protecting farms and the natural resources that make Linn County such a spectacular place to live and raise a family.

This election is about the future of Linn County. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and lead us forward  —with an open mind, a bold voice and a listening ear.

I was the Toastmaster person from last evening. Looks like there are about 6 or 7 clubs that meet weekly in Salem. I recommend that you visit a few to get a feeling of how the program works, and of course check out the website. I found the skills I learned were extremely helpful in my career. I have had the opportunity to speak in several crowds of 5 to 8 thousand people, which can be intimidating. I am sure you have heard the term " elevator pitch ", and toastmasters really can help you develop this skill.

They can also give you ideas on how to speak from the heart and not the brain. When you were speaking from the heart you message was extremely strong.

Just a minor point, I learned a lot about you in the 2 or 3 minutes we were in the hallway. What questions did you ask me about my concerns? I was involved with sales for my whole life and career. Finding out what motivates your customer ( in this case me) was an opportunity lost to connect.

I am extremely impressed that you have stepped up to the plate and are willing to swing at the ball. If I can help let me know.
