• WHY I'M RUNNING:
I have become genuinely concerned about the health and well being of the people of HD11 after finding out about some of the issues affecting people who live here. As your Democratic nominee, let me give you a clear idea of what I stand for on those issues:
– I'm especially concerned about how climate change is affecting our state, particularly the effects we experienced from record-breaking heat wave of 2021 and the devastating wildfires of Labor Day 2020.
- I support Farmers Against Foster Farms. Industrial farms are proposed for Scio, Jefferson, Aumsville and Stayton. Millions of chickens means tons of poultry manure, which contains ammonia gas that could potentially pollute our air and water. I want to update state laws to define when a "farm" is really an industrial operation and how it is regulated.
– The fundamental right and the freedom to access comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion and contraceptives, are essential. Now more than ever we need a strong state legislator to protect these rights. No one should be forced to give birth, especially in cases of rape, incest or when the woman's life is at risk. With the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, we must protect Oregon's right to access abortion.
– I support solving Oregon's homeless crisis with greater access to mental health care, affordable housing and living wages. We will need more shelters and social services to address mental health and addictions. I'm determined to work for legislation that provide incentives for developers to build low-income and high-density housing.
I believe my skills as a problem solver can be put to great use as a state representative. I welcome your comments and ideas. I'd like your support by way of your vote, your volunteer work or your donations. Thank you!
