Amy Vetor
Candidate for Linn-Benton-Lincoln Education Service District Board of Directors, Zone 5
• Occupation: I am currently a certified substitute teacher employed by EDUStaff. However, I previously subbed for GAPS for more than six years before GAPS transitioned to using EDUStaff in March.
• Experience: I have represented Zone 5 on the LBL ESD Board of Directors since August 2021, when I was appointed to fill a seat that was vacated mid-term. During this time, I have also served on three superintendent work groups: Financial Planning, Communication Outreach, and Labor Negotiations.
• Education: I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Master of Arts in Teaching, both from George Fox University.
• Family: My husband and I have been been married for over 16 years, and we have lived in the mid-valley area since 2011. We have two sons who attend school in the Lebanon Community School District.
• Hobbies/Interests: I am an avid reader, and I collect books. Hopefully I will make it through them all someday! I also enjoy singing, cooking, canning, quilting, and doing the New York Times daily crossword puzzle.
• Why I'm running:
I am running to represent Zone 5 on the Linn Benton Lincoln Education Service District Board of Directors. I have served on the board since August of 2021, when I was appointed by the board to fill a seat that had been vacated mid-term. I am running because board service is a tangible way for me to have a positive impact on my community. For me, board service is about serving the children of our community and providing them with what they need in order to be successful. The children are really what it's all about for me. I do not serve on the board because I want to enact a political agenda or advance my political career. I am very passionate about educational equity. I understand that our children come from many different backgrounds with a variety of diverse needs. To me, equity in education means ensuring that ALL students are provided with the specific skills and resources that they need in order to thrive and fulfill their potential. In addition to being a board member, I am also an educator and a parent. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from George Fox University, and I have worked as a substitute teacher for Greater Albany Public Schools for over six years. Working in our public schools provides me with a clear view of the challenges that students and school employees are facing today.
