Alison Ecker
Candidate for School Board At-Large Position 2, Greater Albany Public Schools
Occupation: Attorney.
Experience: Analyzing laws and policies and making them understandable; speaks Spanish and has worked with organizations that serve Latinx communities in Oregon.
Education: Diploma, South Albany High School, 2005; Bachelor's degree, Ethnic Studies (minor in Italian), University of Oregon, 2010; law degree, Willamette University, 2020.
Family: Husband Diego; children Micah, 10, and Eliana, 7; both attend South Shore Elementary School.
Hobbies/Interests: Dancing, gardening, doing family photo shoots.
Why I'm running: The pandemic has had a huge effect on our children and families in our community, some much more than others. We are just beginning to come out of the worst and begin the healing process. Our children have just returned to schools after more than a year of being gone. Some of us have lost loved ones to COVID. Some of us have lost jobs during the pandemic. Some of us finished school and graduated during the pandemic. My family experienced all of this, and we understand the challenges facing our community on the path to recovery. I hope to bring my diverse perspective and advocacy skills to the school board so that we can think outside of the box about how to become more inclusive and best serve our students.
