Message from Linn Dems Chair Taylor
on the vandalism at our campaign office

Linn Dems Chair Jerred Taylor took the rock that was thrown through our campaign office window and spray-painted it blue Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23. The words "We're not going back" now appear on the rock.

  An Oct. 23  message from Linn County Democrats Chair Jerred Taylor in response to vandalism at the official Democratic Headquarters in Albany:
​   Friends, I’m frustrated and disappointed in the state of our current politics, where people think it’s OK to target folks who disagree with them politically and would do something like vandalize a political office, steal yard signs, or shout obscenities at their neighbors. Last night (Oct. 22), a large rock was thrown through the front window of our campaign headquarters, causing extensive damage. Fortunately, nobody was in the building at the time of the incident, and our volunteers have been working hard to reopen the office. Years of relentless attacks on our values and the very foundations of our democracy have not stopped our efforts, and neither will this senseless vandalism. We’re not going to let political intimidation tactics stop us from doing the work of protecting democracy, and we’re going to continue operations. Even though this has been a slight interruption, we’re going to keep on working through Nov. 5 and make sure we’re going to elect Democrats down the ballot.
​   Even with insurance, responding to these events requires significant resources upfront and costs valuable volunteer time. Many in our incredibly supportive Democratic community have already reached out to ask how they can help, which means a great deal to us. 
  There is still much work ahead, but we at the Linn County Democrats are resolute and determined to do everything we can to support our values and help Linn County and Oregon become safer and more welcoming places for all of us. Thank you so much for your support, and the work continues.
