Protest in support of immigrant rights
planned for Sunday, Feb. 9, in Albany

  Linn County Democrats are supporting a high school activist in sharing their personal story and organizing a protest  at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Waverly Park,  3154 Pacific Blvd. S.E., Albany. We are proud to amplify their message.
From the organizer: 
   “We are protesting for immigration rights because our system is unjust and built to keep people out rather than help them build a better life. It tears families apart, criminalizes those seeking safety and opportunity, and traps people in an endless cycle of red tape, discrimination, and exploitation. Instead of creating a fair and humane process, the system prioritizes politics, racism, and money over human lives. Immigrants contribute to our communities in countless ways, yet they are treated as less than human. Everyone deserves the chance to live with dignity, security, and opportunity, and I refuse to stay silent while injustice continues.”

 Please be considerate of noise ordinances, stay on the sidewalk and do not block traffic. Albany city staff and the Albany Police Department have been notified with a safety plan in place, as safety is of utmost importance. Remember: Do not engage with counter protestors or harass others as this is a peaceful protest. We are fighting for a better country and we should act as we want our nation to be, with kindness.
