We are blessed to have two young children, both of whom are enrolled in the Greater Albany Public Schools system. • HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Traveling, cooking, and woodworking. • WHY I’M RUNNING: I am a parent, educator, and community leader, and I’m running for the Greater Albany Public School (GAPS) Board because I believe in the power of collaboration and am committed to excellence in education. Growing up with a single mother who worked her way through school, I saw firsthand how education changes lives. I earned my master’s degree in education from Western Oregon University because I believe in the power of learning. Now, as a Senior Code Compliance Officer, I actively unite communities, dismantle barriers, and create innovative solutions that bring diverse groups together. The recent educator strike sent ripples throughout the community that are still felt today. This has led to a divide and decreased trust and collaboration between the educators, administration, school board, and community. Parents deserve a say in their children’s schooling, and educators must be heard and supported. I will move conversations out from behind closed doors. I advocate for open and honest communication to make decisions based on the needs of all community members. GAPS needs leadership that listens, collaborates, and takes action. I am ready to serve you and this community and make GAPS better than ever. |
