Peter DeFazio: Candidate for Fourth
Congressional District Representative

Rep. Peter DeFazio
    RESIDENCE: Springfield
  OCCUPATION/WORK HISTORY: Democratic U.S. Representative serving Oregon's Fourth Congressional District since 1987. He is the longest-serving House member in Oregon history. After working as a gerontologist and aide to Rep. Jim Weaver, he was elected to the Lane County Board of Commissioners, serving from 1983-87. He won his first election to the House in 1986, succeeding Weaver.
  POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:  Has served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee since 1987. In 2005, DeFazio helped negotiate a federal highway and transit spending bill that secured $2.7 billion for Oregon's roads, bridges, highways and transit systems. In 2014, he was elected to the powerful position of ranking member on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
  EDUCATION: Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University, Master of Arts from the University of Oregon.
